Olesia Saveleva is a Los Angeles–based cinematographer and graduate of the American Film Institute Conservatory (MFA, Cinematography, 2017). At AFI her teachers include Stephen Lighthill, ASC, Claudio Miranda, ASC, Steve Yedlin, ASC, Sandra Valde-Hansen, ASC, Michael Pessah, ASC, Bill Bennet, ASC, and Masanobu Takayanagi, ASC. She also completed a program at the Global Cinematography Institute, founded by Vilmos Zsigmond, ASC and Yuri Neyman, ASC.
Working across narrative, documentary, and fashion, Olesia has shot more than forty short films and web series, including “In girum imus nocte”, which was screened at the Cannes Short Film Corner (2016). Her web series “Imposter” won Best Cinematography at the International Online Web Fest (2023), and her work on the pilot Parallels earned the Los Angeles Cinematography Award (2023), her short “Moon” was a semifinalist in Women in Media Awards at Cine Gear 2023.
Her feature credits include Project Dorothy (Amazon Prime), Model (Okko, Ivi), and a comedy feature shot in Russia, currently in post-production. She also was one of the few cinematographers of the Hulu documentary The Last Take.
In commercial and fashion work, Olesia has collaborated with Vogue (featuring Cindy Crawford, Halle Bailey, and Saint Levant x Dior), Booboo Stewart, Eva Philippe, and brands including Sephora, Matter of Fact, and Vince Camuto.
